Monday, April 30, 2012

There are many reasons why you should consider pursuing masters in social work careers. First of all, social workers are highly needed in the United States within the latest decade. The Unites States Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that this career is one of the most needed careers in the United States within the last three consecutive years. Secondly, social work is a career that gives direct benefits to the community. When you become a social worker, you will provide the community with which you are working with benefits that they can experience directly. Thirdly, there are many job opportunities that you can find if you choose this career field because you can become a counselor, a therapist, a clinician, etc. in any facilities that you like, such as schools, hospitals, adoption agencies, private institutions, and child welfare agencies.

To pursue a career in the field of social work, you need to earn the degree of masters in social work. There are fortunately many universities in this country that have opened this graduate program. Therefore, finding a university where you can attempt at earning this degree is not very difficult. You only need to open your internet browser, use search engines, and you can find all of those universities conveniently. Once you find them, you can decide whether to take on-campus or online program. This is of course another advantage that you can enjoy because formerly, only on-campus program is available for all degree programs. If you take online program, you can enjoy a convenient way of study because you don’t need to attend the class in person if you take this program.

Whether you take on-campus or online program, you have to accomplish the same package of masters in social work courses. There are mandatory courses that you have to take and there are optional courses that you can also take. You can consult the university where you take the program to find out those courses.
