Bilson was conceived in La, California to a Jewish American father, writer/director/producer Danny Bilson, and a Philadelphia-conceived Italian American mother, $ex advisor Janice Stango. Her father hails from a the entertainment biz family; her incredible granddad, George Bilson, was the head of the trailer office at Rko Pictures, while her Brooklyn-conceived extraordinary grandma, Hattie Bilson, was a screenwriter and her granddad, Bruce Bilson, is a film executive. Bilson's folks separated throughout her adolescence, and in 1997, her father remarried Heather Medway, a performing artist and the mother of Bilson's relative Hattie (conceived December 19, 2001).

Bilson has been noted as having a "self-damaging, disobedient period" throughout her youngster years. At the time she was thirteen, she and an aggregation of her sibling's companions were included in an auto crash, a head-on impact with an additional auto. Accordingly, Bilson was unconscious for a couple of days, had a scar above her right eye, and now and then experiences headaches and memory misfortune; she has expressed that the encounter "updated" her, swaying her to "stop... getting into inconvenience" and preventing her from "going down that way".
